Where Do You Get Your Info?

It is no secret that we are inundated with misinformation regarding diet, fitness, weight loss, exercise, etc. every day. From fad diets to Body by Jake infomercial pieces of junk to scam diet pills, it is no wonder people are confused on how to really lose fat and get fit.

But, do you know what is probably the most common source of misinformation on these subjects?

Uninformed, or worse, misinformed, people spreading bad information.

Every office has the ‘diet expert’. You know this person. She has been on about 15 different diets and owns 3 Tae Bo tapes, thus she feels qualified to dispense nutrition and fitness advice at will.

If you ever check out any of the “ask a question, get an answer” type of forums (Yahoo has them, Google has them, etc.) out there, the misinformed run rampant. These places are truly the blind leading the blind.

I’ve seen people advocating juice fasts, steroids, 800 calorie diets, Alli, cardio, cardio, cardio, and every other sort of ineffective, and often harmful, advice out there. Unfortunately, the people asking the questions often put stock in the answers they receive simply because the person answering has answered a lot of similar questions.

Doesn’t matter if they gave stupid answers every time.

So, watch where you get your information from. Know your source and assume anyone posting on a web forum under a pseudonym is clueless.

I know I can’t save the world from the misinformed, but I can try. Part of that effort will include the launch of my own membership/community site this fall. This will be a place where questions are answered by those qualified to answer, with a moderated forum. There will be information on topics such as nutrition, exercise, fat loss, health, etc., along with articles that I only post on that site for my members. Different types of workouts will be covered and explained, probably with videos demonstrating proper exercise form.

I haven’t come up with a name for the site yet. If you have any suggestions, or if you have suggestions on the type of content you’d like to see on the site, feel free to let me know here:
