Kellogg’s Immunity Boosting Claims are a Crock

CocoaKrispies-BoxOkay, everyone knows we have a generation of kids who eat way too much crap and exercise way too little.

No debate there.  Of course, there’s plenty of debate on how to fix the issue, but that’s another post.

What isn’t open for debate though is that food manufacturers will do just about anything, no matter how sleazy, slimy, dishonest, or contemptible in order to sell one more box of the crap they try and pass off as food.

Today’s company worthy of all the scorn we can heap on them is Kellogg’s.

Their latest marketing gimmick is to plaster the front of Cocoa Krispies boxes with the bold claim that this box of shit “Now Helps Support Your Child’s Immunity”.

Yes, Cocoa Krispies, that wonderful health food that it is, apparently can now also help ward off the swine flu.

Take some nutrient-barren processed flour, high-fructose corn syrup, and trans fats, spray them with some chemical vitamin-equivalents, and shazaam, call the marketing department and have them come up with a way to present this box of crap as health food.

Puhlease.  Sugar actually makes up 40% of the product by weight.  Are you freakin’ kidding me!!?  You’d be better off emptying the cereal in the trash, shredding the box, mixing it with milk, and eating that with a multivitamin.  At least the cardboard might provide some fiber.

Only trust the info on the ingredient list and nutrition facts label.  NEVER buy any food based on what the marketing department plasters on the front of the package.  Assume they are lying.  You’ll be right most of the time.

And if you happen to know anyone who works in the marketing group at Kellogg’s, next time you see them just give them the finger.
