I don't disagree. I think hiring a trainer is one of the best ways to go personally, but the reality is that hiring a qualified trainer is beyond the means of a lot of people. When I did 1-on-1 training, I charged $77 for a session, which is simply beyond what the majority of people can afford. I was at the high end of the scale for my area, but even $40 for a session is a lot for a big percentage of the population.
So, for those in that situation, anything in the list I gave is a better alternative than sitting on their ass because they can't afford a trainer.

Not liking the gym is an easy excuse to just not exercise. It is far easier to sit on the couch.

Anyone who hires a trainer, starts to exercise - gym or not - and begins to see results will like going to the gym. And the reason why is simple - they like the results

Don't get me going on Biggest Loser Shannon...:) One of the worst shows on TV (along with just about every other unreal 'reality' show).
Throwing up a lung would definitely make exercise suck though...

~Dave

I totally agree with you! Honestly I think reality t.v. has a huge impact on the way we think about exercise. Shows like the biggest loser make us think that if we bust our butt 6 hours a day doing things that are nearly impossible, that is the only way to lose weight. I seriously had this in my head for a long time. DUH! I know :)
Everyone just needs to find something they enjoy and be consistent. (you have some great ideas) No need to throw up a lung and quit your job to spend 6 hours a day working out.
