Steve Jobs’ 2005 Stanford Commencement Address

Some times you just never know how the decisions you make will impact your future and the future of others.  If I hadn’t decided to call my boss that day in December 2001 and tell her that I wanted to take the early buyout the company was offering (though not offering to me since, as the senior guy in the office, I was supposed to be the last one standing to turn out the lights), and then further decide that I was never going to work for anyone again, I might not be writing this blog today.

When I started focusing on what was really important, and not what was supposedly ‘required’, life got a whole lot better.  Sometimes you just gotta roll the dice.  Watch this video of Steve Jobs at the 2005 Stanford commencement.

Steve Jobs does a much more eloquent job in discussing this than I would.

If you’d like the text version, you can read it on the Stanford web site.
