I don't think anyone would argue with your points, but you might have missed the author's intent in that paragraph. Those are his ideas, but thoughts that he has heard expressed, and as he states, he doesn't believe they are the cause of the problem.

When you shop with food stamps you are excepted to buy the cheap processed foods. 3. Most people do care about their families but do the best they can.
