Okay folks, we’ve got four weeks until Thanksgiving. Listen, I know you’re going to eat like a Barbarian on Thanksgiving, and that’s fine. It’s only one day.
But, that doesn’t mean you should waste the next four weeks before Thanksgiving. Four weeks is plenty of time to develop some good habits that will carry you from the DAT (day-after-Thanksgiving) forward.
So, in honor of that I’m going to throw out a mini Four-Week Nutrition Challenge. It’s extremely simple, and anyone can do it.
All you need to do is follow the simple rules I laid out in this blog post. I wrote that a long time ago, but everything still applies. Just follow those rules for the next four weeks and report on your progress. That’s it.
Oh yeah, and no whining. If you’re going to whine about having to eat right for four weeks, then don’t bother. I’ve got a four year old at home who supplies all the whining I’ll ever need.
So, who’s up for the Challenge?
If you have any questions, ask away in the comment section below.
Thanks,
Dave

Challenge Accepted!
(A timely one at that. Being hurt was an excellent excuse to not do well, nutritionally)
I think the hardest one is the “eating more slowly.” Remembering to PUT THE FORK DOWN between bites is key!
It really does make a big difference…
I’m in. I was just commenting to a colleague this afternoon that I want to reign it in some more. I’ve let some white flour creep back in to my food plan and it’s got to go. Thanks for this, Dave.
The dreaded white flour. Give it an inch and it will add two to your waistline…:)
So true, Dave…so true.
Hi Dave, how are we measuring this? or just going by how we feel in 4 weeks? Kathi
Hi Kathi,
you can measure your success in whatever way you like. I’m more interested in having people work on developing long-term habits than I am in the number of lbs you drop in 4 weeks. Follow the guidelines and you will drop lbs, but more importantly you’ll put yourself on a path to keep doing it, and be healthier, after Thanksgiving and beyond.

I’m in. I need a challenge, and a push.
Christine
Feel free to come back here and report progress or ask any questions as you go…
I’m in. And I agree, #7 is a big challenge for me.
It won’t be easy but it will be fun to give it a try.
That’s usually a tough one for most people Jane. We all tend to eat too fast. But, when you are conscious of it and put your fork down between bites and really chew your food, it will make a big difference. A- you’ll actually taste and enjoy your food more, B- you’ll digest your food better, C- you’ll eat less because you’ll give your body time to react and recognize how much you’ve already eaten. Let me know how it goes.
