My Reading List

Here’s a list of the recent stuff I’ve read or listened to.  I’m an audiobook junkie with a membership to Audible.com, so I’m more likely to be listening to audiobooks than to be reading a physical book.  The list below is a mixture of both, and is in no particular order.

Crush It! by Gary Vaynerchuck
Great, quick read.  There is no reason to do shit you hate.  If you are, read this book and stop doing that.

Predictably Irrational by Dan Ariely
Amazing insight into human behavior. We all like to think we’re logical and that we make rational decisions. You might be surprised when you learn how far that is from the truth.

Your Erroneous Zones by Dr. Wayne Dyer
I’m an admitted Wayne Dyer junkie. I listened to the audiobook version of this, which isn’t the same as the book, but still great stuff. I forget who said it, but life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it. Very true, and basically what Dyer talks about here. You can choose how you react to situations, choose to be stressed or calm, choose to be organized or disorganized, choose to be overweight or fit, etc. Your mind is a pretty powerful tool if you use it.

Some other Wayne Dyer audios I’ve listened to include Living Your Bliss, How to Create Your Life the Way You Want It, Living a Magical Life, and You Can Do Anything. These are all short (60 min) audios that you can pick up for 99 cents each at Audible. Click the banner below.

Excuses Begone! by Dr. Wayne Dyer
Did I mention I’m a Wayne Dyer fan? If you’ve got excuses for not doing something you want to or should do (losing weight maybe?), then this is a book you should read. Lots of good, tough love.

Trust Agents by Chris Brogan and Julien Smith
If you’re using social media (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc.) for business, read this book. I use Twitter and Facebook daily, and it’s amazing how many businesses and entrepreneurs blow it when it comes to social media. Basically you should act the same way on a social media network as you would at a social gathering, i.e. not like an idiot. This book will give you a better understanding how and why to do that.

Awaken the Giant Within and Unlimited Power by Anthony Robbins
For some reason, when you mention Anthony Robbins people often roll their eyes and give you a negative attitude about him. I’ve found that’s usually the case with people who’ve never actually read or listened to any of his stuff. I personally think his stuff is great, but it’s only as good as the action you take on it. These are older, but the info is still valid today. Disclaimer, I listened to the audio versions, so they may be different than the books. You can get the audios at amazon or audible.

The Great Little Book of Afformations by Noah St. John
A unique spin on the whole ‘power of positive thinking’ deal. There’s a million gurus out there preaching that if you repeat positive affirmations to yourself all day, your life will change for the better. Sure. Thinking is great, but taking action is what changes the game. With affirmations, we tell ourselves positive thoughts all day. St. John has a much more effective system, afformations, whereby you ask yourself positive questions instead. When you ask yourself positive questions, your brain immediately begins to search for the answer, leading you to the actions needed to achieve your goals. I know I’m doing a lousy job summing up the book in five sentences, but take a leap of faith and check it out. St. John makes all the sense in the world.

Purple Cow by Seth Godin
Most businesses out there are exceedingly average. If you want to succeed, you need to learn how to stand out. Be a purple cow in a herd of otherwise generic cows. Great read for anyone looking to succeed.

The E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber
So, were you expecting a bunch of weight loss books here? Sorry. I read plenty of that stuff too, but I like to expand my horizons beyond that. If you run your own business, or want to, this is required reading (or listening).

I’ve got about five or six audiobooks lined up, so as soon as I finish each of them, I’ll update this page with the good ones. If you want to check out Audible (it’s the best for audiobooks) just click the banner below.
